Mittenwald

One of the day trips we took while we were in the southern Bavaria region was to the village of Mittenwald. The village has gorgeous lüftlmalerei (frescos) and is known for exceptional violin makers. We were able to experience the Bolzano Market, which takes place every five years. This was the 525 anniversary. During the week of festivities there are market stalls, wine taverns, craftsmen and jugglers, merchants and noblemen, theater productions and musical performances. We really enjoyed watching the violin makers!

A HUGE pretzel from the Market.
