A QUICK trip to Houston and Some Random Pictures

We are back from a whirlwind trip to Houston. We planned on staying through Sunday and driving back on Monday, but the roads were becoming quite congested with evacuees from Hurricane Gustav, and Steve was getting pretty busy on the phone with work. The last thing we wanted was to be stuck in a huge traffic jam with a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn. We were sad to leave so quickly as we weren't able to spend as much time with the family. Since we were planning on staying till Monday, and also planning on a family get-together, I didn't get many pictures. We look forward to seeing the Houston family again in October!

The other pictures are just from around the house...

Jack's Six Weeks Old!

It's been an amazing and blessed six weeks! Jack continues to be a great baby. He has had some digestive issues, and through trial and error is now on Soy formula. Despite all the changes, he continues to eat like a champ! Jack LOVES to be held, but also enjoys his farm gym and swing. He even likes his bath time.

We're getting into a nice daily routine. Most days we venture out to run errands or go to the mall so that Isabella can enjoy the play area. With our new vehicle and double stroller it makes going out a breeze. Jack does well in his car seat, usually sleeping when we're out and about. We're looking forward to cooler temperatures so that we can play more outside and take walks in the neighborhood.

A little Mommy

Since bringing Jack home from the hospital Isabella has really started playing with her baby doll. She mimics what we do, burping her dolly, changing her diaper, putting her in Jack's swing and bouncy seat, and rocking her to sleep. I asked her today what her baby doll's name was and she looked at me, really seriously and as if I was crazy, with attitude said, "Baby Doll."

She's also been very concerned about Jack lately when he cries. She goes up to him and says, "Baby Jack, what the matter." She is always eager to help us with him and said today, "Mommy, I change Jack's diaper now."

She's been after me all week to take a picture of her with her Baby Doll in Jack's bouncy seat.

She said, "Ew, stinky!"

Happy 1 Month Birthday to Jack!

Jack is a month old today. Does time fly by, or what?!? We're officially on our own now that my Mom has left. Tomorrow will be the first day that it's been just me and the kids. I have a feeling that Isabella will be watching an episode or two of Sesame Street and Veggie Tales. I'm sure we'll be into a routine in no time.

Isabella still loves to hold Jack.

Nana Escapes!

My mom flew home today, after being with us since just before Jack arrived. She was such a blessing and a tremendous help! For four and a half weeks she was Isabella's playmate, teaching Isabella so many new things. They enjoyed taking walks, doing crafts, playing with water in the backyard, and reading, reading, reading!

Thank you Mom for being such a wonderful Nana and a wonderful Mom to me! We are so thankful for you!

4 Weeks Old!

Our Jack is 4 weeks old today! Here are some funny things that he does...

-He makes the funniest noises (squeaks, etc)
-He HATES having his hands covered by anything
-He can go from sleeping to crying LOUDLY in less than a second (he can get really mad too!)

Unlike Isabella when she was a newborn, he actually enjoys "floor time" and even tolerates "tummy time."
